cdza Friday: City Streets, Famous Musicians

Last Friday I featured a music video from cdza. You know — cdza, also know as Collective Cadenza, that group of highly trained, and amazingly cool, musical virtuosos assembled from prestigious music schools in the New York City area? This Friday, yep — today, I offer another of their experimental music videos, this one set in the streets of New York City. In fact, not only is it set in the streets of NYC, it’s ALL ABOUT the streets of NYC! (See what they did there?) The street names give a clue, a HUGE clue, as to the name of the musicians. Armed with the street signs, how many of the songs can you recognize? How many can you actually name?

If you enjoy cdza, as I obviously do, check our their YouTube channel! Or continue to check here, as I intend to post more of their videos. However you do it — CHECK THEM OUT! If you missed my post last Friday, you can find it here –> Around The World with cdza

Enjoy and have a GREAT weekend!

    • I agree, and one of my favorite parts is: Jurassic Park!!! :D

  3. Good morning Alex …. (I know, it’s late for me) … Funny, but Jurassic Park got the best response from me.

    • It’s never late for you Frank.

The Jurassic Park thing is used as a common theme in a few of cdza videos. It ALWAYS makes me smile!

      • I stayed up late last night with hopes of helping with my time zone correction. … then again, that makes for a long day.

        February 9, 2013 at 7:06 am

        • I hope you’ll be ‘regulated’ soon! It;s great to have you back. Are you guys affected by this storm?

          February 9, 2013 at 7:19 am

          • Cincinnati is simply on the cold side of the storm, thus no snow. As you know, travel is exhausting, I awaken at 11 pm (my time) to begin the return journey … in my house around 4 pm … on the dance floor at 7

            February 9, 2013 at 7:24 am

            • It can be exhausting, but it’s SO worth it! (As are most exhausting things!) I’m sure you barely missed a beat. :D

              • I actually went dancing to keep awake because I didn’t want to fall asleep in front of the TV at 7. Now here’s the interesting point … at the dance studio I was like a social butterfly because my wife doesn’t return from a girls trip until tomorrow.

                February 9, 2013 at 7:31 am

                • Oh-oh! That could be trouble! ;)

                  February 9, 2013 at 7:37 am

                  • LOL … she knew I was going … and it was good to dance with a variety of people because that also serves as feedback. … and I was a good boy.

                    February 9, 2013 at 7:39 am

                    • A variety is definitely nice…

And of course, I know you’re a good boy, Frank!

                      February 9, 2013 at 7:41 am

                    • …. and I wouldn’t want to be hit with a bottle of Shiner Bock … empty of course. ;)

                      February 9, 2013 at 7:45 am

                    • LOL! No empty bottles here, just lots and lots of coffee ;)

                      February 9, 2013 at 7:48 am

  4. Enjoyed the listen Alex. Lovely accompaniment to my blog browsing :)

    February 9, 2013 at 7:39 am

    • Glad you enjoyed it Colline, thanks!

  5. Wow–no doubt these dudes are talented.

There were a number I was able to identify on their own merits, but there were a number that I only got because of the Street Names (I assume Clarkson = Kelly Clarkson, West = Kanye West) and some I couldn’t get at all–I think those were some of the more contemporary ones. I don’t listen to the radio (except for ball games), so I’m not up on contemporary artists.

    February 10, 2013 at 10:06 pm

    • I don’t listen to the radio at all, not even for ball games. I’m clueless as to pop-culture ….I’m happy about this!

I don’t think there’s any question that cdza are musically talented. I think what I like most about them is their cleverness, their humor, and their knowledge of music beyond the contemporary. And hell, Smak — they just make me smile!

  6. These guys are soo funny and obviously having a good time!

    February 11, 2013 at 11:10 am

    • There’s very few things I enjoy more Chica than seeing someone in the act of truly enjoying their work. That joy is absolutely infectious!

      February 12, 2013 at 7:31 am

  7. Great! And I’ve never heard about them ;)

    February 13, 2013 at 10:14 am

    • Hey there Xandi! You might want to check them out :D
