Two Weeks

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

Due to circumstances beyond my control…particularly my coming to the realization that my current job is running out at the end May and I haven’t spent a moment looking for another…I’ve made the decision to step away from blogging for a couple of weeks.
To any who may not know, I currently work as a Political Advocacy for the Democratic Party and in particular I’m involved with the campaign of a candidate running for local office in the Democratic Primary. The Primary election here in San Antonio is scheduled for May 29th. If we win the primary, and that possibly is looking very good, I have been offered a position with the campaign working towards the General Election in November. However, as well as the campaign is going, it’s far from a definite. Also, I’m not sure I want to spend another summer in south Texas… where we’ve already experienced triple digit temperatures. This, combined with my wishing to continue in my Robert Heinlein quest to learn and take a role in as many different experiences as possible in my lifetime, leads me to wanting to look elsewhere…not only new employment, but also a new location. This will require some focus on my part. There’s no question that working on a political campaign has been interesting, eye-opening, and at times both exciting and exhausting, and that the final upcoming 30 days towards the primary will no doubt be the most intense and interesting …which is all the more reason for my needing to take a small break from blogging.
Since I usually only post two or three times weekly, I doubt my contribution here will be missed much…however I will greatly miss having the time to go over the wonderful posts of friends and those I’ve come to know in my 5 months here. It’s something I’ve grown to love and I WILL BE BACK. To any wanting to get in touch for any reason I can be reached via email. I will, regrettably, not be able to respond to any comments. In the meantime…don’t stop pursuing the things you love!!

Good luck on your future endeavors. I won’t wish luck to your candidate as I have come to have a strong dislike for all politicians (Maybe its because I am in Illinois).
Its good to see priorities are set. Too many people sacrifice things they shouldn’t in order to write a personal blog.

You chasing your dreams is the best possible reason for leaving us.
You will definitely be missed…until the next time we meet!
And then, we’ll sit back around the fire, share a cold beer, and pick up where we left off…
Rock on, Alex, and may the road rise up to meet you.

Very cool picture. I love the North American double yellow line. We don’t have it in Europe. Good luck with job hunting!

Good luck with finding whatever it is that you’re looking for. But stay open to the possibility that you might also find something you weren’t looking for that is every bit as good. Thanks for all the input on my blog. Much appreciated. Come back soon!

Good luck Alex! May you find happiness in every road regardless the vehicle.

Your posts will definitely be missed! Good luck with the job search. I didn’t know you were a political adviser. A friend of mine does that, also for the Dems. I’ve always believed that loyalty to a political party that ISN’T paying you is foolish. Good for you!

OK, breaks are always good Alex. Good luck, and hope you’d recome!
Peace and Greetings,

So you’re Mitt Romney’s running mate!? Can I have your autograph before you go all Sarah Palin on the world?
May 7, 2012 at 8:24 pm
And by “Political Advocacy for the Democratic Party” I’m sure you meant running mate for Republican nominee Mitt Romney.
